Manhattan USB hubs are used to connect devices such as mice, keyboards, printers, and external hard drives to a computer, or to transfer data between computers and other devices.

Manhattan provides USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 hubs, The main difference between the two is the data transfer rate. USB 2.0 has a maximum data transfer rate of 480Mbps (megabits per second) while USB 3.0 has a maximum data transfer rate of 5Gbps (gigabits per second), which is about 10 times faster than USB 2.0.

USB Hubs

A USB hub gives your computer or tablet (aka, your host device) more USB ports to connect things like mice, keyboards, flash drives, printers and more. It turns one port into multiple so you can use more of those devices than you'd otherwise be able. A USB hub also helps save the ports on your host device from wear and tear since you’re not plugging and unplugging them to use a new one.

A basic USB hub can meet the power and data needs of compatible devices. More-advanced USB hubs can include ports for Ethernet cables or SD cards and provide power enough to charge all the devices you plug in (including the laptop or tablet). When choosing a USB hub, make sure it can handle the needs of the devices you plan to connect. For example, a SuperSpeed (5 Gbps) hub will be better for transferring large files between your camera and your computer than a Hi-Speed (480 Mbps) hub.

Basic USB Hub

Basic USB-A Hubs

If you just want to use USB peripherals like a keyboard or mouse and don't need to charge them, a basic USB-A hub is the cost-effective choice.

The Hi-Speed (480 Mbps) versions are all you need to connect those basic USB devices. The SuperSpeed model is great for higher bandwidth applications such as webcam streaming or transferring large amounts of data to or from storage drives.

Each of the models we offer here has four ports, which makes them compact enough to fit in a pocket — be sure to check out our Pocket Hub (pictured).

Powered USB Hub

If you need to use devices and charge them, then a powered USB Hub is the right fit. These hubs include a power adapter and offer a minimum of 500 mA per port so you can use and charge USB devices that have batteries such as phones, tablets and more.

For higher power output per port, check out the MondoHub II at the bottom of the page. It comes with a high-capacity 4-amp power adapter. When that power adapter is plugged in, the ports share up to 20 W, and four ports are specially designed for higher power output to charge tablets and phones.

A USB-C hub connects to a USB-C port on your computer/tablet and, like a USB-A hub, also gives back USB-A ports.

Our USB-C hubs share 1 amp of power between the ports, which is enough to charge a smartphone or tablet if only one of those power-hungry devices is connected at a time.

Basic USB-C Hub

Our basic USB-C hubs are ideal for using many common USB peripherals, including SuperSpeed ones since that standard is backward compatible with previous USB standards. These models are especially useful for connecting more devices that use higher bandwidth at once.

Like our basic USB-A Hubs, these models offer four ports and are compact enough to fit easily in a laptop bag or briefcase.

Power Delivery USB Hub

This USB-C hub offers USB-A ports and includes a USB-C Power Delivery (PD) port that can take up to 60 W. (Read more about PD technology here.)

When PD charger is plugged into the PD port on this hub, all the devices in your setup — including your computer/tablet — get power. You can plug the USB-C PD power adapter from your host device into this port, but if you need a PD charger, you can find one here.

As many laptops have gotten lighter and smaller, they’ve done away with many of the bigger ports, especially the larger Ethernet ports that give wired network access. This hub connects to a USB-C port and gives you that RJ45 port so you can connect securely to the network at gigabit speeds. It also gives three SuperSpeed USB-A ports.
